TAKING FLIGHT MURAL

Taking Flight Mural was painted for the District of Saanich at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre.

To celebrate community vibrancy within this mural, I created a dynamic design of many different species of birds flying through the mural space in a triumphant manner. This is a wonderful reminder that the CRD welcomes everyone into their community space and where members of the community and surrounding area can thrive. This design was created specifically for the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre as the location provides a confluence of many different assets, both natural and social. From the Tributary of Bowker Creek, to the Cedar Hill Golf Course, to the fitness centre, the location brings many people together, with varied backgrounds and interests, with a common thread of making use of a diverse and welcoming area.

MIGRATION MURAL

Migration is a mural painted in the Township of Esquimalt, as part of The Esquimalt Mural Festival, hosted by the Esquimalt Community Arts Hub.

The painting depicts a series of animals moving through the painting, not only on their own migration, but acting as symbols of beings moving through the world. A reminder that we are all on our own journey and at different places in the map of our life, which encourages us to engage with others with understanding and grace. I aim to create a feeling of dynamic movement throughout the painting, to encourage the viewer to seek out the next section of the painting to see what animals are visible next. Each animal depicted can be found in the forests, seas, and skies of BC.

THE WELCOMING MURAL

This mural was painted for the City of Langford, at Langford Station public space.

As the theme aims to celebrate community, I wanted to depict this through the use of animals. In this design I see the Elk as the main focal point acting as a representation of the area, a welcoming place to come and stay, be safe, and feel welcomed by a vibrant community and surrounding area. I see this mural design as a representation of everyone being welcomed, whether just for a short stay, or if one is putting down roots
